Re: Omar Falcon
We have some good names in our system. I still think Osiris Matos is an awesome name.

And for a time we had Hector Borg and Rich Janeway playing for the rookie league team. Star Trek jokes abound.

Read SFDugout. It'll make you a better person.

Re: Omar Falcon
According to minorleaguebaseball.com Falcon was taken from the Pirates organization by the Cardinals. Looks like he was in the Mariners system last year.

Re: Rule 5
Alfredo Simon was taken by the Orioles...but I guess I didn't know he was signed by the Rangers in the first place.

I hate Ricky Ledee.

Re: Rule 5
Three words: out of touch.
This from rotoworld:
Phillies acquired RHP Alfredo Simon from the Orioles for catcher Adam Donachie and cash.
It's a swap of Rule 5 picks, with Simon returning to the club that originally signed him in 1999. A 25-year-old with a big fastball and little else, Simon went 2-10 with a 6.62 ERA in 17 starts and 11 relief appearances between Single-A San Jose and Triple-A Fresno last season. He's also battled arm problems while playing in the Dominican Winter League. He shouldn't make the Phillies.

Ledee French for douche bag.

Re: Rule 5
Hopefully Webb is slick with the glove, because his hitting is Ransom-esque.

Trey Webb is an awesome name.

I wonder if, after hitting a slow dribbler, he says "ya da da da da da..."?

Yet...
Ransom was slick with the glove.  Until that one play...

I was actually going to post Webb's career stats but I figured Grant was going to put together a lengthy post on him tomorrow.

Re: Rule 5
Boy, how a star has fallen:  Buscher was highly touted when we drafted him but he just could never put it together in the minors for us.  Another in a long line of failed 3B prospects:  Torcato, Niekro, Schierholtz, now Buscher, and perhaps Sandolval.
Now sign the big boy....

Re: Rule 5
A grim list. Here's hoping that Angel Villalona will be the David Wright at the end of the tunnel.

Re: Rule 5
Yeah, I have to admit that I am surprised that Buscher was not on the AAA reserve list.  At times this year he seemed like the best hitter for the Connecticut Defenders.
