Damn! What happened to the Cards? I feel pretty sick about this, what happened to Seattle? Even the Angels?

About their drafting position, I count 22nd in record, don't know if Cards winning division affects draft order, but it bumped them up, then 21st.

At 3/47, if we insist on "contending", I would have kept Schmidt. Its short term, and he's a damn good pitcher.

Maybe this is why Felipe threw him so hard while he was here. They knew this was coming.

Still, it hurts to see the best Giants pitcher in my lifetime go to the Dodgers. Like Mueller, I don't know if I can wish him ill, but if he could suck three specific starts a year I wouldn't mind.

Well, at least they'll be paying a 36-year-old pitcher over $15 million in 2009.

Mueller didn't make a B-Line to the Dodgers though. Schmidt is going straight from the Giants. Did he NOT hear the chants "BEAT LA!" behind him at all? Loved Schmitty when he was here but I'm more a Giants fan than a Dodgers fan so he will be boo'd when he gets here.

True about Mueller. This defintely hurts more, but the basic sentiment is still the same for me.

I'm not sure if I can boo him immediately, though. I think I'll go with silent indifference. But that also depends on how the post-signing press conference goes.

He's not dead, yet. He isn't Kent, who badmouthed us on the way out of town. I never hated Bill Mueller for being a Dodger, and maybe it was because he was at the end of his career and didn't do much with them, but as of now, I put Schmidt in that category.

We'd be pretty good if we didn't suck so bad.

Bummer. At least it's a draft pick, though I echo Aadik's comment that if we were going to insist on contending Schmidt at 3/37 is much better than Suppan or whoever at what we'll pay them.

And, as I've mentioned before, I'll root for Schmidt to go 0-20 with a 2.00 ERA. We got to see his best years and they were damn good. Those back-to-back 1-hit shutouts may be my best Giants memory (though I'm young).
