Ok, Grant has said he ain't comfy with gift giving. Let's see what we think. Vote for what you think we should get, and a vote for #5 or #8 will be considered a vote against getting him something due to his uncomfortability.

Re: Don't peek at this one either Grant!
Are we really done with throwing out gift ideas that Grant doesn't want to take?  We may be jumping the gun before we even know who else is in.

Re: Don't peek at this one either Grant! Like, we'
What we really need to do is come up with an extremely boring thread title that no reasonable chap would have any interest in reading. I donno, how about, "A Grammar Thread"?

Re: Don't peek at this one either
I just posted this proposal on the other thread:

Give half the $ to Junior Giants

Give the other half to Grant in a dugout store gift certificate since I think he could use it toward actual tickets if he wants.

Here's my thinking: Having seen Grant's beloved beat up old POS cap, I'm not sure that he'd go for the fancy jackets and jerseys.  Also, if Grant puts the kibash (sp?) on this whole thing, he'd be denying the kids, and the guilt would kill him.
I know "Junkcar" Vida Blue would approve...heh, heh, heh.

Is the motion seconded?

Charity = good, though I like the idea that Grant would choose which one. (I'd just as soon give money to Darfur.)

Re: Don't peek at this one either
Goofus, my man, you are correct.  That sounds reasonable and probably appropriate from Grant's POV.  Or it could all go to the Junoir Giants, except for the Neifi baseball cards.

Re: Don't peek at this one either
I LOVE the idea of donating to the Junior Giants, even more if we donated the funds in Grant's name.

Market the site
Why don't each of us buy his t-shirts.  This way he gets the blog advertised, moves some product and then can spend the proceeds any way he wished.

Re: Market the site
Actually, I think that's the best idea.  He COULDN"T refuse it.  And we get really cool T-shirts, which we could even use as Christmas gifts!

Win-win-win situation!

Even better..
He can get double that if he gets two regular tacos at Jack in the Box!  Or he can mix it up and get some BJs* too.

more ideas
I like Goofus' idea about Jr Giants and a gift certificate.  Another idea - we could get a message on the scoreboard at the phone booth saying something like "Great, Thanks for making McCoveyChronicles.com the best Giants blog on the web."

then he'd get some pub and it would be kind of cool.  Of course, we might also have to get him tickets to the game.

Just a thought.

Re: Don't peek at this one either Grant! Like, we'
Ok, so far the Dugout Gift certificate and "someting else" are the winners. The two "nothing" categories are less than 50% of the votes, so that indicates most people still think we should do something.

I like the 1/2 dugout certificate 1/2 junior giants idea.

Re: Don't peek at this one either Grant! Like, we'
I'm in for that, too.  Maybe we should start another diary with the Junior Giants/Dugout Store GC as one option for the poll and "No" as the other option, and see if there are any last people in for a donation.

1/2 dugout certificate 1/2 junior giants-count me in.

Question: who is coordinating all this?
