The sky is falling, the sky is falling...?

Or is it? I know there are a lot of astute folks out there in the audience, but before you squash me like some day old road ki!!. Perhaps we should realize we have some pretty good pitchers on our staff...I think the best in the NL West. I would also add the club has made some mistakes in the past, but so has the Yankees ie Wright Pavone
Weaver to name a few...okay I'm ready...thump! thump!

Happy Thanksgiving
Giants fans have a lot to be thankful for and pitching is one of them. It is too early to predict if sky falling. Let's be patient and see what team will look like come spring training and beyond because the 2007 team will have much tweaking throughout the season.

The Yankees can afford to make mistakes like that and still make the playoffs every single season because they can buy enough talent that actually is good.

I think our problem for next year will be offense and defense and if our young pitching staff struggles, then we really could be in for a long year.

We'd be pretty good if we didn't suck so bad.

Young pitcers will be fun to watch, including
Linecum, who I hope starts the year in AA,
finishes in AAA, and debuts in the Giants
rotation in 2008. The Giants did a half-decent
job of not rushing Cain...

I would be excited to watch Barry grind out the HR chase,
and I actually would be excited to see Frandsen and Linden
stat. Alphonszo, not so much. I feel a Mirabelli signing
coming on. Deuling .220 hitting catchers...

Humm Baby!

Re: The sky is falling, the sky is falling...?
I'm slightly optimistic that we might actually give some of our younger players a chance to perform in the next 2-4 years. I'm always a proponent of building from within. However, that isn't the same as expecting a pennant chase from those same teams during those years. But, would I still be a loyal fan if we struggled for a few years while trying to establish a sensible, built-from-within organization to provide the foundation to compete for many years? Oh yes.
Waiting for Nate, Marcus, Nick, & Emmanuel

Like driving on the freeway
sometimes while driving on the freeway you realize if you slow down for a few seconds you can then let this car in another lane pass and you can switch lanes so you can drive 70mph and fly again. That is where the Giants seem to be in 2007. If we fans can take foot off accelator and slow down and the Giants make decisions for the long haul that will improve the club it will be better.

I will still demand that they play fundamentally sound baseball. Make the routine plays, move the runner up, hit the cut-off man, take the extra base, pitch efficiently etc.

  • With return to health of Benitez, Morris, Winn and Worrell
  • Frandsen and Linden continue their growth as MLB players
  • Young pitchers continue to improve
  • get a career year from an unexpected source
who knows maybe 2007 will be exciting and competive.

A great analogy...couldn't agree with you more!

Well, they have some pretty good pitchers, but the pen is a mess right now with Benitez and that contract. Looks like they will need to trade for some bats, which means giving up some of those young arms. I just hope the bats they get are worth it.
