According to the New York Times. The Giants offer was for 5 years for 50 Million, but the Angels matched them. So this morning Sarge Jr. decided he wanted to be close to family. I think this negotiation process is not for amateurs...just a thought.

How's this for a plan? Sabean is re-inventing his possible 2007 starting lineup on a daily basis.

Most of this site is disagreeing sharply with our GM if these leaked "Giant offers" are correct as reported.

But apparently, Sabean is going after these marginal-impact guys with gusto.

This all means that our 2007 lineup could look something like:

Roberts CF
Vizquel SS
Durham or Lorretta 2b
Bonds LF (Linden as 4th OF, 2 or 3 starts per week)
Feliz or Aurillia 3b
Winn RF
Sweeney/Niekro 1b
Notgardo C

not exactly murderer's row...probably not even involuntary manslaughterer's row.

We'd be pretty good if we didn't suck so bad.

It sounds like we have had ridiculous offers on the table for Soriano, Pierre, and Matthews, so while I don't have a lot of confidence in Sabean's decision-making these days, I do feel that he has a guardian angel looking out for him and preventing him from doing anything too stupid. So we have that going for us.
