My check to the bank bounced?

Looks like my comment that you can "take it to the bank" concerning Pierre and Bonds my not come true after all. According to Rotoworld the Dodgers are in deep discussions (whatever that means) with Pierre. And Bonds well...who knows? I just hope the Giants can put together a team worth blogging about.

Meh, don't sweat it. I was going around telling people that Frank Thomas was sure to re-up with the A's and look what happened there. Who had the Cubs as serious contenders in the Soriano sweepstakes? Shit happens. It's still fun to speculate.

Re: My check to the bank bounced?
So awesome. If the Dodgers sign Juan Pierre to a $9m contract (conceivably for up the FIVE years, according to the article) and the Giants get Dave Roberts for cheaper I will cry tears of joy. Roberts is basically better than Juan Pierre at every aspect of the game and will hopefully not require a long term contract because of his age.

Re: My check to the bank bounced?
I'd much rather sign Roberts, but we'd need a good 4th outfielder as well (which is where Linden could come into play) especially if they bring Bonds back...Roberts and Bonds would probably only play about 110-120 games tops, given their injury history...

Re: My check to the bank bounced?
After Bo Schembechler died on Friday, I told anyone who would listen to put all their money on Michigan to rout Ohio State on Saturday. I really thought they'd just be so amped on emotion that they'd beat the snot out of the Buckeyes. They played well, but lost. So that's two sports I know nothing about.

Football, Baseball too hard to game
Let's go back to basics, then. What's the Vegas line today on the Laplander Curling team?

Re: My check to the bank bounced?
Pierre actually is a good player and doesn't actually have Leprosy as many around here seem to think, and the Dodgers certainly can afford to pick him up at that price given their deep minor league system and fatter wallets. Signing him is not gonna hurt them.

Trust me. Pierre will kill us next year...and the year after that...and the year after that. You can take that to the bank.

We'd be pretty good if we didn't suck so bad.

Re: My check to the bank bounced?
What makes Pierre a good player? Is it his below average OBP and nonexistant SLG? Is it 70ish% success rate at stolen bases? His lack of a throwing arm? I just don't understand why people can think Pierre is a good player, and he's only going to get worse. My happiness will range from very high if the Bums sign him for three years to AJ-Pierzynski-getting-hit-by-a-car if it's a five year deal.

Wait, maybe this is a trick to try to get another check to bounce. I agree! Juan Pierre will hit .450! You can take it to the bank!

You forgot his proven veteran "clutchiness" and "clubhouse character". ;)

How weird.  I posted that yesterday morning and just now showed up.  (Grant, looks like a bug in the software; check into it.)

Too bad, I planned on making y'all a ton of money.
