Rags not in the running
New q/a on the giants mlb site. Here's the pertinent section:
Bud Black seems to be on the short list of candidates to replace departing manager Felipe Alou. Why not Rags?
-- Tom B., Santa Clara, Calif.
Dave Righetti will never be a manager. Field bosses must be friendly with the media, a talk-on-TV guy, not just a skilled handler of people. Rags is notorious for avoiding the press and speaks to reporters reluctantly, always suspecting reporters are out for dirt. He's one of the best pitching coaches in the game -- that's his expertise -- and the Giants are lucky to have him.
I know this isn't the "official" team line, but it is worded far more strongly than the usual hemming and hawing in the q/a posts. Let's hope for Wotus or Girardi.
Also fairly strongly says Durham won't be resigned...

Re: Rags not in the running
Righetti doesn't stand up and make a speech.

I thought his conclusion on Feliz - "He'll return." - was also surprisingly strong.
Incidentally the article in question can be found here.
Re: Rags not in the running
As far as Bonds, Durham, and Feliz go, it's tough to tell if he's got an inside source or not. I would guess not.
Unusual candor
Do they take the gag order off these "reporter-puppets" after the regular season?
Re: Unusual candor
