Would you take Bonds in October?

Ok.  The Giants actually have a minute chance to make it into October.  1 in a million but it's not impossible.  Here's the question I pose to you:  If Barry Bonds miraculously gets better and wants in on the playoffs, would you take him?  Before you say "Hell yes!" consider the fact that he hasn't contributed a single thing to the ballclub all season.  Consider that IF the Giants get into the playoffs, they did it themselves, fighting tooth and nail with the scrappiest team in all of baseball.  Does he deserve to get the glory in post-season?  Think about it.  I'm a hypocrite.  I'd say "hell yes!"

No.
Because he won't be ready.

Even if he was ready, no.  He wouldn't be ready for baseball, just ready to be there.

Man: What they need is a front office. Jerry: But you gotta like their chances. .....Not so much this year.....

Of Course
If the Giants think he can help them win, the same would be true for anybody not just Bonds.  If Schmidt was out the whole year, but was able to come back in September and pitch a game or two before the playoffs would you not want him on the roster?  If Bonds can swing a bat and hobble his way down to first he's still the most feared guy on our team by  far, even if it was only pinch-hitting I would still add him over Linden or Ellison.

Yes
Because if the Gs do make it to October, they will be at best a .500 team and the worst team in the playoffs.  With a Bonds who can only hit .200 and slug .300, they will still be the worst team in the playoffs.  BUT, on the off chance that Bonds comes back as BONDS, the Giants all of a sudden become a dangerous offensive team with some solid starting pitching as of late.
And no, you don't give anyone else that chance.  Because this is Barry, and no one else does the things he can do, you put him in the lineup.

Schulman's column just hit the gate
Shortstop Omar Vizquel spoke for many when he said of Bonds, "If he's not going to play, I hope his presence won't be a distraction for what we need to be doing over the last couple of weeks."
Did not think of it that way. I guess it's kind of like a father who wants to reunite with his son after never being there to see him grow up. As a player on the Giants, I'd be pretty pissed if Bonds shows up just to draw attention to himself. Especially since he's been hiding behind his fucking website for the entire year. Come to play this season or don't come at all. He's too much of a distraction.

it would be one thing
if he was there with his teammates when he could be. As far as I know, no one except the GM (and even then, only on occasion and not in direct contact) knew anything about his day to day situation.

now I'm left wondering
what motivation Bonds has in joining the team so early in his baseball rehabilitation. It better fucking be the team's. If it's just so he can get his name everywhere again... If that's the case, trade the prick. Deep down I really hope it's to help the team and not himself. Really.
