Heres a good question for Giants fans, who would you get to replace Felipe thats currently available?
All petitions need bully tactics

Even George W. Bush's managing of this country....

Don't tell that to the dead troops
I'm talking about his managing of this country
He doesn't manage the military?
IT WAS AN ANALAGY WENT WRONG
First choice
Second choice, among the currently available, is Joe Maddon of the Angels, who I've read is super-organized, ultra-methodical, and otherwise perfectly qualified. I'd like to bring some of the Angels' study methods to this team.

BLOWS MY MIND

Make me number 5 and counting.
Signed,
Faithful(for now) Giants fan.
i have supported alou
and after tonite, i cannot support even his on field antics
walk was hitting 89 on his fast ball....there is something wrong with his arm....hes gassed
yet alou went to matchups in the 8th....limiting what he could do in the 9th
everytime he has gone to matchups we lose
after the dinger, walk shouldve been lifted
its an ez call, bring in someone fresh with no one on
yup....alou doesnt have it anymore....hes more interested in getting talk show hosts fired
This would seem to prove your point
"It's a shame," he said. "There are so many good players ... unless there's a manager like me with Cream of Wheat for brains. It's been a strange year."
With the West clubs facing each other over the final month, Alou believes no team will really take charge.
What's wrong
I'd like to see him get a shot at it
Stick Kruk and Kuip in the dugout!
Fire 'im!
Do Sabean At the Same Time!
Slow, over-the-hill players.
Horrible, unbelievably horrible managing.
Bullpen blowing chunks.
Horrible managing of the bullpen.
The worst personnel decision of a year that has seen many stupifyingly terrible personnel decisions.
Fire Sabean and Alou tonight!
I concur

Method to his madness!
I read that and suddenly I understood! His strategy is to completely blow out Walker's arm, so he'll have to go on the DL, so they can call up some other kid whose arm isn't overworked...yet.
So...
hes gonna do it to eyre
as i recall, brower was lites out last year....and alou beat his arm into a pulp
hes gonna do it to eyre too
the madman must be stopped
Christiansen Quote
Oh, and I'm all for firing Alou...

"We have some guys here who have been overworked," Alou said, "whose arms are tired."
Christiansen didn't take the comment lightly.
"Really?" he asked. "He's just now figuring it out?"
Alou has gone to the bullpen 389 times this year, tops in the majors. Scott Eyre appeared in his 65th game, also tops in the majors. Afterward, Alou said he's going to give Tyler Walker a few days off because the closer seemed drained.
He's not the only one.
"Of course our arms are weary," Christiansen said. "We're getting run through like a turnstile."

Count me in on the Brenley camp.
Pretty good road trip though...
by Kent @ McCovey Chronicles on Aug 20, 2005 7:46 AM PDT up reply actions
I would rather
no brenley
had he not had schill and the unit, he never would have gone to the ws
hes never proven anything at the big league level, and his on field moves could be compared to both alou's and the doofus one
theres a reason hes back in the booth and not managing now....he doesnt have the desire, and no one in their right mind wants him
it would be a disaster if brenley took over this team
fact is, there are plenty of coaches in the org who can take over for alou
but if brenley becomes the manageer....dont say i didnt warn ya
Absolutely...

Okay...
On another note, how about Joe Torre once he's fired from the Yankees? On another note (part 2), who's Maddon and what do the readers here know about him?
by Kent @ McCovey Chronicles on Aug 20, 2005 12:47 PM PDT up reply actions
Info on Maddon
He's 51 years old. The Angels also have Black, Griffin, and Hatcher I think all potential ML managers.
Give Wotus a shot
Wotus, Mgr. Trevor Wilson, P Coach. Willie McGee
if Tracy doesn't leave LA
oh yeh and fire alou
How about Jim Leyland?

I forgot...
by rod beck on Aug 20, 2005 1:01 PM PDT up reply actions
hell felipe's 70 something
Anyone like Leyland, there is the Bonds connection but Barry probably won't play '07, and I think Alou stays through next year.
Potential Managers?
Hal McKrae(HC Cardinals)
Terry Pendelton(HC Braves)
Davey Lopes, Dave Magadan, Tony Muser(all w/ Padres)
Jerry Manuel(FBC Mets)
Joel Skinner, Robby Thompson(w/ Indians)
Orel Hershisher(PC Rangers)
Chris Chambliss(HC Reds)
Ron Jackson, Dave Wallace(HC,PC Red Sox)
Not saying I endorse all these guys, just throwing some name out there.
Careful....

I love you too
With Dusty, the Giants loved playing for him. This is going to sound very old school, but things like that matter. Dusty likes people to be comfortable, which helps them worry only about playing well.
Dusty's having a rougher time in Chicago because Dusty is not a Chicago kind of guy. Cubs fans are insane, and the press is worse. If I were him, I'd welcome a chance to go back to San Francisco. Krueger's gone, and the press here are kittens compared to the ones in Chicago.
It's gotten to the point where Dusty Baker is now an underrated manager. Yes, I mean underrated by all of you.
Thus I throw down my gauntlet.
I'm sorry...

How would you feel...
by rod beck on Aug 20, 2005 9:20 PM PDT up reply actions
Good idea
Coming back to reality, I would promote a minor league coach or Ron Wotus.
Pretty sure

Fire the old man
One way that might convince him to leave
True
Fire Felipe
Matheny to Bench Coach. Hey, he's already on contract, right?
