Open Gameday Thread 6/26

I was hoping to come up with some stupid gag revolving around how "Haren" is "Harden" without any "D", and tying it into the abysmal display by the Giants defense yesterday. It would have been much, much easier had it been the A's who made the errors. Would have written itself, practically.

nice catch by Kotsay
... on Snow's flyball. Giants outfielders would have had that one, too. Right? Right?

This is sad
Ellison would have dove for it, and it would have bounced off the small of his back into the stands for a homerun.

The Oakland crowd
roars in sadistic glee as an A's batter pops up to the Giants defense. @#$*%!&

what a mess
i created an account to comment on this terrible terrible game. as greg papa said "the a's can't do anything wrong." by extension, the giants can't do anything right.

thanks, appreciate it
i wish jon miller would come back. at least he gets amusedly pissed. papa sounds like he's about to go grab a butcher knife for himself and dave just sounds like it was a bad day of golf.

I just don't understand
Even without Bonds, this should be at least a 500 team.

by Bull579 on Jun 26, 2005 2:04 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

What...
..are you talking about.  This team is bad.  This team isn't even good with Bonds.  Say Bonds comes back, where's he going to play?  LF?  How's he going to move?

Ellison, Niekro, Woody, Christiansen, Matheny, Durham, Grissom, Tomko, etc.  This team isn't good at all!

Tomko's ERA
in his last three starts, plus first two innings of this one : a Coors-esque 10.02.

And then there is Todd Linden, with more 0-2 counts on him this season (12) than 1-0 counts (10) ...

Oh yeah let the kids play.
I can't tell you how happy I' am that The team went with the youth movement.

by Bull579 on Jun 26, 2005 2:05 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Maybe he's injured
First 12 starts - 3.86 ERA, .254 BAA
Last 4 starts - 10.12 ERA, .358 BAA

Or maybe he just sucks

interesting
In the Cubs-White Sox game, Mark Prior came off the DL to pitch six shutout innings. According to the box score, Jerome came out of the bullpen to pitch the seventh.

by non sequitur on Jun 26, 2005 2:07 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

and
jerome pitched fucking awesome too.

i'm sure glad we gave up on a 23 year old pitcher. hey let's sign fassero to a 4 year extension

by Bruins17 on Jun 26, 2005 2:31 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yes he did
I take it, then, that Prior's return (and Wood's, soon to come?) will push Jerome to the bullpen? Or will he be sent down so that he can continue to start?

(Why am I talking about Jerome, anyway? Denial?)

holy moraga

So I get in late and check the game...
Did the Hindenburg crash into our team? What the hell happened?

by Salemicus on Jun 26, 2005 3:22 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

all our pitchers bent over
and all our hitters (except cruz) bent over. that's about the size of it.

haha
kuip just called him "herman munter."

by tk on Jun 26, 2005 3:52 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Even better,
if Kuip ever needs a hit (in the mob sense), he's gonna call in "Munt"

One question
Missed the whole thing, (thankfully) but was there any particular reason christiansen threw at swisher?

by Larson2042 on Jun 26, 2005 3:59 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Because...
Swisher couldn't possibly hit that pitch for a home run.  I can't say that I blame JC, can you?
