I Hate This Team!

I have suffered through many lean Giants years, most of the seventies, 1983-1985, 1995 and 1996, literally years where the teams were not ever in contention, but you kind of understood that going into the season.  You knew, that if everything broke right, they might be able to flirt with .500.  This was before Bonds and before the revitalization of the franchise brought by Magowan's ownership and Pac Bell Park.  It was difficult to really blame those teams for their lackluster play.  This team is harder to watch than many of those awful collections, simply because you would expect them to play much better.  This team literally does nothing well, or even to average big league levels, and it finds a way to lose, either due to a starter getting blown out, poor fielding, poor situational hitting,  a bullpen blowout, baserunning mistakes, you name it.  The worst thing is, this is a boring team to watch play because they just don't do anything well, where you can watch a team as a whole and appreciate fine defense, pitching or a slugging tema.  This team is boring.

...Unfortunately,
...your mention of the term "boring" is absolutely on the mark.  Not only are they boring AND bad, but they don't seem to care.  What's worse is that the franchise seems rudderless.  What is the future plan?  Is there one?  I'm sorry to say that I think Magowan et.al. are just sitting back and waiting and hoping against logic that Bonds comes back at 100%.  Not exactly a plan!

This is a proud franchise!  This is humiliating!

On the bright side...
The SJ Lil Giants have the best record in all of minor league baseball.  I suggest for the remainder of the summer we engage in the collective delusion of believing San Jose's the major league team and San Francisco just a disappointing AAA team made up of retreads and has-beens that won't be providing us much help in the stetch run against rival Stockton...
