minor lines, 6/12/05

AAA: Fresno lost to Salt Lake 8-4

Fresno: 2B Brian Dallimore: 2 for 4, 2B
Fresno: RF Todd Linden: 3 for 4, HR, K
Dallimore raises his AVG to .278 with a 21/49 XBH/H ratio.  His AVG is lower this year, but there is definitely more power.  After his 19th HR, this may be Linden's last game in Triple-A.

Fresno: LHP Pat Misch: 6.0+ IP, 8 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 3 BB, 4 K, 1 HR
Fresno: RHP Jeremy Accardo: 2.0 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 0 K, 0 HR
Misch's ERA is now 6.21, while Accardo's ERA rose to 3.48.  Both pitchers have definitely had better appearances.

AA: Norwich lost to Binghamton 3-2 (10 Innings)

Norwich: CF Fred Lewis: 2 for 5, 2B, SB, 2 K
Norwich: RF Dan Ortmeier: 1 for 4, BB, 2 SB, K, GiDP
Norwich: 3B Julio Cordido: 2 for 3, 2 HR, BB
Lewis now has 13 swipes while Ortmeier has 17.  Does Ortmeier get promoted if Linden gets promoted?  Cordido doubled his HR total.

Norwich: RHP Merkin Valdez: 7.0 IP, 6 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 8 K, 0 HR
Norwich: RHP Billy Sadler: 1.1 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, 0 HR
A very strong game for Valdez, lowering his ERA to 2.71.  He has strong peripherals with 62 H, 25 BB and 63 K in 69.2 IP.  Will he be promoted soon?  At least Sadler didn't walk anyone.  He now has 27 H, 18 BB and 37 K in 39.1 IP.

A+: San Jose defeated Inland Empire 12-1

San Jose: DH Eddy Martinez-Esteve: 3 for 3, 2B, 2 BB
San Jose: RF Nate Schierholtz: 2 for 4, 3B, 2B, SF
San Jose: 1B Travis Ishikawa: 2 for 4, 3B, 2B, BB, K
San Jose: C Brian Munhall: 3 for 4, HR, BB, K
EME raises his AVG to .365, just barely enough to stay ahead of Brian Munhall at .364 (the latter in very limited playing time).  Schierholtz is now batting .322 and may be in line for a promotion to Norwich within the next week.  Ishikawa raised his AVG to .294.

San Jose: RHP Jesse Floyd: 6.2 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 5 K, 0 HR
San Jose: RHP Joe Bateman: 1.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 K, 0 HR
San Jose: RHP Justin Hedrick: 1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, 0 HR
A strong performance by San Jose's two all-star pitchers and its closer.

A-: Augusta lost to Charleston 5-4 (10 innings)

Augusta: SS Marcus Sanders: 2 for 5, 2 K
Augusta: CF Mike Wagner: 1 for 4, HBP, K
Augusta: RF Brian Horwitz: 1 for 4, BB, K
Augsuta's top three hitters reached base safely twice.  The rest of the offense was 4 singles and a double.

Augusta: RHP Osiris Matos: 5.2 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 0 BB, 5 K, 2 HR
For a second straight start, Matos posts a strong K/IP, but he has still allowed too many hits.
