Minor League Report 5-4-05

Stay connected for news and updates

I figured I'd take my turn until Steve returns.

AAA: Fresno defeated Las Vegas 8-7

What could have been an interesting pitching matchup was nothing but a slugfest.  Jerome got rocked going 5 IP's with 8 hits, 7 ER's, 3 BB's and only 4 K's.  Let's hope he can figure it out.  At least Edwin Jackson got rocked as well.

Fikac pitched well and Correia got the save.  He threw one inning and gave up a hit and got one K.

As DrB mentioned yesterday Linden's got a 946 OPS and he followed that up with a fantastic game tonight.  Linden was 2-4 both of which were homeruns.  He walked once and scored 3 runs.  He also had a K.

A bunch of other guys had two hits including Clark, Knoedler and Athas.  Torcato hit a double to go 1-4.

AA: New Hampshire defeated Norwich 3-1

Simon pitched pretty well.  Burres did not and took the loss.
Simon  6.0 H-5 R-1 ER-0 BB-0 K-3 He also picked off a runner at first.
Burres 3.0 H-3 R-2 ER-2 BB-1 K-0

Not a lot of offense and Lewis has not played particularly well this year.

A+: San Jose defeated Visalia 9-8  Kinda of ugly with 4 errors for SJ (Chavez, Schierholtz, Ishikawa and McNiven) and 3 for Visalia.

EME is unconscious.  Before tonight he had a 1043 OPS.  All he could do tonight was go 3-4 with a HR and 3 RBI.  He also walked once.

Angel Chavez went 2-4 with 2 runs scored and stole a base.

A hit for Timpner, Frandsen, Ishikawa and Bowker.  Timpner also stole his 10th base.

No great pitching lines for either team but we outlasted them for a win.

Broshuis  4.2 H-5 R-5 ER-4 BB-2 K-7 HR-0 6.44
McNiven   2.1 H-3 R-2 ER-1 BB-0 K-1 HR-0 3.46

A-: Columbus defeated Augusta 1-0

No offense and Sanders only had one hit.

Sanchez pitched 6 innings, allowed 5 hits and a single unearned run.  5 K's and 2 walks.

I also wanted to update everyone as to our minor league teams standings.

Fresno is last in the Pacific South Division and 4 games back at 11-16.
Norwich is 5th in the Northern Division and 6.5 games back at 11-15.
San Jose is leading the North Division by 1.5 game at 15-11.
Augusta is leading the Southern Division by .5 game at 16-11.
