Mock Draft

John Sickels site minorleagueball.com is running a mock draft June 6th. Rounds 1-5.

Giants have given up their picks in rounds 1-3 for signing FA's

Armando Benitez
Matheny
Omar Visquel

So Giants do not have much to go on. Encourage people to head over to John's site to give me ideas of who to draft in round 4-5. Or at least a direction you want to go in. HS or College. Pitchers or hitters.

Bargain Hunting

I don't know enough about high school or college ball to suggest any specific names. The Giants have been pretty successful at finding hidden gems in places where other people aren't looking.

JC's: Nate Schierholtz and Marcus Sanders(draft and follow). The nice thing about these kids is they are still young, 19-20, but have an extra year of experience when you sign them.

Prior injuries: Kurt Ainsworth(oops, bad example), Brian Wilson, Eddy M-E.

High school players who other teams think are committed but are signable: Travis Ishikawa.

College Closers: Russ Ortiz, David Aardsma.

College Seniors- I can't think of any off the top of my head, but I know we have several. Jason Ellison was one.
