When I was doing Waiting for Boof, I toyed with the idea of starting a blog detailing the music I was listening to when doing my main blog. Navel-gazing at its best, sure, but I like writing about music, and never get the chance to do it.
Consider this another try. When I write at home, I'll listen to stuff and jot down some notes. Also, consider this an open music thread for you to shove your music down my throat.
Drive Like Jehu - Yank Crime:
I've had this one for ten years, and hated it for nine. I used to hate the screaming, but most of my music these days features plenty of screaming. It's a post-quarter-life crisis, people. Climb aboard. This album kicks ass. And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead, and Perhaps Our Clearly Visible Nametags...owe a lot to these fellas.
The Streets - Original Pirate Material
This is an album that everyone loves, but has never floated my cork. I keep giving it chances, mostly based on the fact that "Don't Mug Yourself" is a brilliant song. The album isn't that bad. It's not getting any closer to heavy rotation, though.
Mastodon - Remission
Grrararrarrrrrrrrrrrh! chugga huchha chugga chugga chugga Garrrrrrrraaggggggh! chugga chugga chugga
I love this band. Post-quarter-life crisis, people. Climb aboard.
DJ Shadow - Endtroducing...
Rickey Henderson to RJD2's Tim Raines. Most producers: Vince Coleman.
