Forget Thome, how about Tino?

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2217949

He's a free man and considering his numbers last year vs. Snow's I wouldn't discount the old guy just yet.  That's IF he comes back to play and if we can get him.  Says that he was at a $3 million option so that's not so bad in my opinion.  What's yours?

I'd rather have Niekro for the minimum.
The Dodgers ARE evil.

Tino a no-no
Absolutely not. He hasn't been any good for several years (he said, failing to look up the actual stats). Let's give Niekro a chance at both righties and lefties. Or get Casey Kotchman. Or Adrian Gonzalez.

Tino is an upgrade on Snow?

I would rather take my chances with Niekro as well if these were my choices.

vs Snow?
I agree with Martin.  I don't see Tino being an upgrade over Snow, who are basically the same age (Tino being two months older than J.T.).  For the last 4 seasons, Tino's best AVG has been .273, but that was also the year of his lowest SLG in that time period.  Statistically, Tino has hit for more power than Snow, but I suspect that difference would largely evaporate in SBC.

This past year Tino hit .241/.328/.439, but a large part of that production came in 4 series May 3-15 when he had 10 HRs (among 14 H in 38 AB).  What did he hit the rest of the season?

No thanks
He stunk in the National League.

He's old.

He's likely to cost too much.

Which means, dude, you nailed it--he'll be our starting first baseman.

I think I'm kidding.

Tino? Why stop there?
Let's get the Big Cat!  We'll be able to get the buy one get one half off discount on walkers for him and Fassero.

Re: In one word...
is that even  a word?
Did you ever go to sleep with Bo Derek and wake up with Bo Diddley?
