Here's the free agents available so far:

Just looking, would Estes be possible?  I mean he can't be going for that much nowadays right?  He's getting old and didn't do too badly last year.  We need a veteran starter and a lefty at that. What's everyone's thoughts and who else would be good candidates from the list?

I was going to...
post this coment as its own diary; however, this one will suffice.  The White Sox are preparing to offer a 4 yr 48 million dollar contract to Konerko, WHICH HE PLANS TO REJECT.  I think you can safely say that he is out of our price range ;-).

To quote the very knowledgable Dave from USSmariners
"Keep in mind, Konerko has never posted an EQA above .300. Before this season, his career high in WARP was 4.8, or about what Randy Winn averaged as a Mariner. Two years ago, Konerko hit .234/.305/.399. He'll turn 30 before opening day rolls around next year.

Paul Konerko, the worst "premier" free agent in recent history. Whoever signs him deserves everything they get"

Did you ever go to sleep with Bo Derek and wake up with Bo Diddley?

Re: I was going to...
I've like seeing Konerko make the Dodgers look stupid.  That being said (written), I totally agree.  Stay away from him and look elsewhere.

Re: Hey I know someone who's available!
Well, there's two good reasons to sign Lima.  Sadly, neither has anything to do with his pitching.

Estes - maybe
The other day I was actually pondering an Estes signing - it would have to be at a bargain basement rate and we couldn't put much faith in him.  I don't know what the stat boys think about him - but for old times - maybe.

Sabean wants a top of rotation pitcher, not a bottom.
